The ‘Annapurna Post Bal Sansar Bal-Pristha Samayojan Pratiyogita’ winners were awarded at
a function held here on May 12.
The team Siddhartha Boarding School, Chitwan, was adjudged the winner by the jury comprising Agatha Thapa, Founder-Director of Seto Gurans, and Sangeeta Raimajhi, Associate Professor of Tribhuwan University.
The winning team won a branded Pentium 4 computer for its outstanding presentation of the Children’s page in the vernacular daily. The teams from other schools that had participated in the competition were given certificates of merit.
Managing editor of AP, Shree Acharya, gave away the grand prize and the certificates.
The ‘AP Bal Sansar Bal Pristha Samayojan Pratiyogita’ was started in the
year 2060 BS. The competition invites schools to send in articles, photographs, and a team (comprising students and a teacher) from the chosen school to design the page.
The page is published on the last Saturday of every month. Thus, students from 12 schools of the country get a chance to make a page for one of the leading dailies of the country every year.
This year 14 schools had participated in the competition. Speaking at the award-giving ceremony, judge Thapa said, “This is not only a proud moment for the students and the schools but quite heartening for those that can’t speak for themselves.
These young students have attempted to speak for them and that’s quite overwhelming.”
The function was attended by representatives of the participating schools.
