Artists’ vision of marathon

KATHMANDU:

On September 22 around 92 artists brought out their imagination of a marathon on their paintings. The watercolour painting competition held at the Patan Durbar Square was organised as a part of the promotion of the Springwood NRN Kathmandu International Marathon being held on October 6 by Nepal Marathon Private Limited.

The competition was categorised into four events with open and school level competition for boys and girls. The first prize for open competition among boys went to Ishan Pariyaar from Lalitkala Campus and Prabha Bajracharya from Kathmandu Engineering College (KEC) among the girls. Meanwhile the winners of the school level competition were Ritesh Raghubanshi from Adharsh Vidya Mandir (AVM) and Prisma Kojin from Campion. Manish Lal Shrestha and his team had judged the event.

Most of the artists had portrayed the marathon using Kathmandu’s historical sites as the background.

The organiser of the NRN Marathon, Nilendra Raj Shrestha said, “This has been a very positive beginning for our effort to bring in marathon culture in Nepal.” The marathon is being supported by around 15 lakhs Nepalis living abroad.
