Backstreet Boy busted for

The Backstreet Boy, Nick Carter, 25, was arrested Saturday night on a misdemeanor charge of drunken driving after he was stopped for a routine traffic violation. Police said he was driving erratically after leaving a nightspot. Police took Carter into custody, booked him and held him for four hours before he was released. His car was also impounded, police said. The pop star’s publicist blamed the legal snafu on a prescription medication Carter is currently

popping. “Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation. He is on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities,” Carter rep Juliette Harris said in a statement Monday. It’s not the first time the Backstreeter has had a run-in with the law. Carter, 25, was arrested in January 2002 after he allegedly failed to comply with a cop’s order to leave a Florida nightclub after a scuffle occurred. More recently, Carter became the subject of tabloid speculation after his ex-girlfriend Paris Hilton was photographed with mysterious bruises all over her body shortly after their split. At a Grammy celebration last month, the popstar’s younger brother, Aaron, told FoxNews.com that Nick was indeed the cause of said black-and-blues and that he was also guilty of more than a little brotherly roughhousing. “He hit her,” Aaron Carter said. “And he hit me.” — AFP
