KATHMANDU: Artist Ragini Upadhayay Grela has lost her daughter, Shivata Upadhayay Grela, on February 5. The cause of her death is not known yet.

Albert Grela, Ragini’s husband shared the news on his Facebook page on February 6. “Shivata Upadhayay Grela died yesterday 5/02/2016 at Utrecht hospital. The exact causes are not known yet. She was the light and the sun of my

life,” he posted after the death of their only child.

Albert further mentioned, “I want her to be remembered for the love and compassion she had with all the people she knew. She brought happiness and joy on this Earth. Keep her in your heart as the jewel she was — feeling heartbroken.”

The Facebook page of Ragini, who is the Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, is filled with condolence messages. According to a source close to Ragini, Shivata was in her 20s and was studying in the Netherlands, where she died. And Ragini has already flown to the Netherlands.

“Raginiji once shared with me that Shivata had a strong character — she would defend Raginiji if someone would make negative comment on her mother. I am shocked to hear the news, I express my deepest condolence to the family.”
