Bold statement of subtlety

KATHMANDU; As soon as the beats of the popular Bryan Adams' song Summer of 69 echoed in the hall at Hotel Yak and Yeti, all heads turned to the entrance of the ramp and out came the models in rather rebellious and dramatic look. Here designers not only dared to design but also carried off those designs with finesse.

The start might have been with a bang, but then after subtlety ruled the ramp on the third day of The Himalayan Times TGIF Nepal Fashion Week '09. The designers showed the power of subtle style -- how a subtle cocktail dresses can look sexy, an eveningwear turns chic with subtle style, and when done in white, subtle can be majestic as in Whyte-Lie.

The surprise of the night was Flower Power which showed how innovation can be clubbed with simplicity. While flower is all about colours, this collection done in white highlighted the other features of a flower with their innovative designs. The interesting design of this collection was complemented by the perfect finish.

Again the bridal collection of the evening brought elaborate works like zardosi, tikri and metal works to the ramp. Collections like Quilts and Barbie goes to the Bazaar added a touch of variety with frills, volumes and colours. The evening took a full circle as the bold look of formal office wear closed the show.

Celebrity showstoppers were in full force today with actresses like Regina Uprety, Una Upreti, Richa Ghimire, singer Ciney Gurung, media person Sangeeta Shrestha and DJ Yuva walking the ramp. Namrata Shrestha and choreographer Renisha Rai also walked the ramp for tehir upcoming film Mero Euta sathi cha.

Various sequences were sponsored by Shringar Botique, Red Cherries, Anand Jewelleries, Dulahi saris, Ishan Infosys, Singapore Enterprises and Redha Shirting and suiting.
