No stopping Sunny

MUMBAI: Sunny Deol is busy biking these days at Film City. And that’s because he plays a Western biker in Planman Life’s film directed by debutante Arindam Chaudhuri. However Sunny will be cooler in the film with no action scenes despite playing the biker.

The film is an adventurous campus caper in the league of films like ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’ and is titled ‘Rok Sako To Rok Lo’. And with a title like this, let’s see how controllable Sunny is on the screen.

Censor say: Main Hoon Na

MUMBAI: Censors interrupt again! And this time, the target was the current hot film ‘Main Hoon Na’. For those of you who have checked out the film by now and were alert enough to notice some mismatch in the lip-sync of some dialogues. That’s no dubbing problem but censor intrusion. Some dialogues by the brash Zayed Khan (before his change-over in the film) relating to temple and army men did not go easy with the censors and had to be changed at the last moment. Not to forget the word b****** has been punched with a beep thrice in the film.

The hunt is over

MUMBAI: Earlier, producer Keshu Ramsay had signed Lara Dutta opposite Ajay Devgan for his new film initially titled Sipahee. The hunt for the leading lady opposite Akshay Kumar was going on. And now the search is over, for Keshu has signed Esha Deol opposite Akshay. In fact, Esha and Akshay have been teamed for the first time in a film. K Subhash is directing this multi-starrer.

Karan Johar’s new venture

MUMBAI: With Shahid Kapur opting out of Karan Johar’s songless thriller, to be directed by his erstwhile assistant Soham Shah, the makers have finalised Saif Ali Khan for the role in question. “That’s true,” Soham confirms the development, “Karan has spoken to Saif about it. In fact, the actor has verbally agreed to do the film, though he’s yet to sign on the dotted line.” No sooner did Shahid express his inability to be a part of the project, Karan penciled a few names for the role, among them being Vivek Oberoi, Saif Ali Khan and Zayed Khan.

To roll in October this year, the makers are still undecided about the leading lady. There’s talk that Rani Mukherjee might be roped in. “We haven’t thought of anyone yet. In fact, only after we complete the pre-production formalities with Saif will we think of casting the leading lady,” Soham replies. Another rumour doing the rounds is that the film will be titled ‘Darr’. “Not true,” Soham clarifies, “We are keen to have a title that begins with the alphabet ‘K’. We haven’t even decided on a working title yet,” he states.

Mallika to do Cabaret

MUMBAI: Contrary to what a certain section of the ill-informed media had reported, there is no fallout between Mallika Sherawat and Mahesh Bhatt. Gossipmongers went rife with rumours that Mallika was thrown out from Bhatt’s next film. Emraan Hasmi — Bhatt’s nephew had a tiff with the actress at the launch party of the film and he requested Mahesh to take the action. But Mahesh Bhatt clarified that there is no fallout between the two and the only reason Mallika is not doing the film is date problems. On the other hand Mallika has signed a film for Pooja Bhatt titled Cabaret and the deal was finalised at Mahesh Bhatt’s Juhu office.
