Kathmandu:
Viewers who look at the paintings by Chirag Bangdel at The Art Shop cannot help but stare with mouth agape. Discreet bright colours with usual feminine figures and stalked flowers buds stand for more than what they appear to be as they are being showcased under the theme “Coloured Expression – Figurative”. “These paintings are all about life, celebration and beauty,” Bangdel added, “Viewers need not delve into for finding deeper meaning in it.” It is as simple as that. The paintings are artist’s expression by means of colour but they are also the feelings of human beings stacked in the inner layer of the mind/heart. That was probably why human reaction to things becomes similar.
Bangdel is an old hand and has tried his hand in various experimental art works. Installation, figurative figures, fine arts and landscapes in all fields he has equally proved the dexterity. Out of many facets of his personality, what is art to him? “I just love painting. I live in painting,” answered Bangdel. “It was virtually a new experience playing with colours,” he said with pleasure looking at his own paintings. His previous exhibitions were subtler beyond colours, textures and lines. This time, he has minimized the field of texture and highlighted the objects. All 22 acrylics are on display till the end of this month.
