Here’s a piece of realy good news for all the book lovers of the Capital. The British Council is observing the World Book Week from April 23-25 at the British Council premises. The UNESCO designated World Book Day is an annual worldwide celebration of books and reading, which takes place on April 23.
The British Council has been celebrating this event for the last nine years, which is about helping children and adults to discover the pleasures of reading and encouraging reluctant readers to read.
Two hundred new fiction titles for children and adults will be exhibited during the fair, and the titles will be available at BCL from May 1. The book fair will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a lucky draw for all visitors.
To make the fair more fun, a bookmark painting competition for children will be held between 10:00 am — 5:00 pm. Competition for students from Class IV and V will be held on April 23, for students from Class VI-VII will be held on April, and for Class VIII-IX-X students will be held on April 25.
There will be three winners for each category of the bookmark painting competition and winners will receive a year’s free library membership and a book gift voucher of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000, and Rs 1,000 as first, second or third prize. The winners will be announced on the British Council website on May 1.
Besides this, talk programmes for adults on the importance of reading will be held on April 24-25 at 5:30 pm.
