Capital’s own Miss Photogenic
KATHMANDU:
Priyanka Thapa was declared Miss Kathmandu Photogenic on January 6. She won a cash prize of Rs 30,000. Organised by Papa’s Trinity Academy, this is the first contest of its kind. Founder principal Michael Hess ‘Papa’ and his interest in photography led to the initiation of this contest.
Meena Adhikari and Dibya Bajracharya were the first and second runners-up winning cash prizes of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Twenty finalists were chosen from 75 participants at a preliminary round held on December 9. All 20 finalists were given cash prizes. Seven photos of each girl were displayed at Yak and Yeti’s Regency Hall. Ramesh Budhathoki, Kamala Shrestha, Kala Subba and Sony Shahi were the judges and their selections were based on face cut, proportionate face structure and expression.
The proceeds of this contest will be used for the welfare of the children at Papa’s Trinity Academy and Papa’s House Hostel. Papa had initially opened an orphanage but is now running as a full-fledged school.
