Carey’s Grammy snub
LONDON: Mariah Carey won't be accepting a Grammy at next year's (10) award ceremony - the singer has taken herself out of the running for nominations.
Carey will release her latest album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel on 29 September (09), missing the Grammy cut off date by just one day.
The 39-year-old chart-topper has only won five awards out of 21 nominations since 1991, and has reportedly snubbed organisers to avoid another disappointment.
A music industry insider tells the New York Daily News, "Mariah's been shafted (let down) so many times before that it's like a big 'Kiss my butt' to the Grammy folks. She doesn't need the awards, because her career is already so successful."
The 52nd Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to air from the Los Angeles Staples Center on 31 January (10).
