Chains of friendship

I am quite sure that everyone is familiar with the word friendship, but I do feel that not everyone knows exactly what friendship is and the duties of a friend.

I believe friendship is a wholesome relation, which is a part and parcel of every human being’s life, and plays a vital role in the road to success. Don’t forget, ‘Success is achieved by motivation’.

I know this as the truth as it has happened in my life as well. My friends have shown me the way to succeed. The triumphs I’ve had in my life are dedicated to my friends, for which I would like to thank them all. I do, indeed, have a few good friends whom I believe are very valuable to me and they remind me of a proverb, ‘Books and friends should be few but good’.

Besides this, here there are some other proverbs which define friends and friendship.

It is better to be in chains with friends, than to be in a garden with strangers.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Do not use a hatchet to remove a fly from your friend’s forehead.

A cheerful friend is like a sunny day spreading brightness all around.

To be depressed is to be lonely; to have a friend is to be happy...

Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow.

Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead.

Walk beside me and be my friend.”

I can always trust my friends. These people encourage me to grow. And just as I have such wonderful friends, I wish for you, ‘May there always be work for your hands to do, may your purse always hold a coin or two. May the sun always shine on your windowpane, may a rainbow be certain to follow each rain. May the hand of a friend always be near you, may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.’
