Children theatre fest calls for scripts

KATHMANDU: If you have an entertaining, original and exciting work on children theatre, it is your time to shine. The National Children Theatre Festival has called for the submission of script of plays, informed a press release issued by Shailee Theatre, organiser of the festival, on December 20.

The seventh edition of the festival will take place in mid February, the press statement adds. The theatre festival for children is being organised annually “to give a platform for the children interested in theatre”, the press statement mentions Navaraj Budhathoki, President of Shailee Theatre as saying.

Therefore, while submitting the scripts, interested candidates must keep in mind that the plays need to be associated with the children in one way or the other. But, the content and language of the plays should not affect the child psychology negatively, the press statement mentions. With a maximum of 12 actors, a play must not be longer than an hour to be eligible to take part in the festival.

Selected plays from among the submissions will be staged during the festival. These plays will also be competing for different titles and cash prizes — Shailee Best Acting (Male and Female), Chekhov Best Direction, Balkoseli Best Drama, and Shailee Encouragement Prize (Male and Female).

The scripts can be submitted at Shailee Theatre’s office at Russian Culture Centre, Kamal Pokhari from 8:00 am to 11:00 am by January 8, 2016.
