Chill out with Mongolian barbeque

KATHMANDU:

The choices are innumerable for the foodies of Kathmandu. Every other restaurant or hotel is spreading lavish tables with cuisine from all over the world for us to dig in to. Perhaps what we have not yet tried out till now could be the Mongolian cuisine. Well, you will even get to taste that now with the Splash Bar and Grill at Radisson ready with its authentic Mongolian BBQ.

The year 2007 being the hotel’s promotional year, Radisson has lined up a long list of

food events and this is its latest offering.

Mongolian cuisine generally consists of a high amount of meat products. The warriors on their way to battles usually had meat as animals in the jungle were the most accessible meal for them. Thus, the BBQ too has a long list of meat products on the menu — be its aromatic garlic massaged pork strips, exotic salmon juliennes, shrimp marinated in beer or the chicken tikka dice.

However, the veggies need not fret. The selections of vegetable consist of baby corn, asparagus, broccoli, florets, pokchoy, mushroom, zucchini and many others. For

the dairy product lovers, soft and fresh paneer is also available.

The vegetables — raw or boiled — can be sautéed in garam masala, pesto, saffron, basil, beetroot, herb and garlic. And the sauces include barbeque sauce, brown sauce, chilli, kikoman, sake balsamic vinegar.

The best of this event is that the open food counter makes it possible for the guests to see the chefs preparing their choice of meat and vegetable and add anything extra that they want, and have the flambé BBQ.

All orders are accompanied by unlimited bread rolls, portion of wasabi mashed potatoes, salad and rice.

The Mongolian BBQ, which began on April 6, is scheduled to be held every Wednesdays and Fridays.
