Chinese band to hold concert in Kathmandu for earthquake survivors
KATHAMANDU: Namaste Nepal Foundation and Texture Studio, a group of filmmaker, are organising a charity concert to fundraise for survivors of last year earthquake.
A Chinese band Wang Wen will perform in the concern to be held at the Purple Haze in Thamel of Kathmandu on April 23.
Nepal was rattled by the magnitude-7.6 earthquake on April 25, 2015, where nearly 9,000 people had died and thousands of people became injured and homeless.
Earlier, the organisers had made a documentary entitled "We Shall Rise Again" dedicating to those people who were directly or indirectly ached by the quake. They had established contact with the Chinese band while seeking their consent for using music from them in the documentary.
According to Alok Lamsal, a member of the organising team, the Chinese musicians themselves had floated the proposal of the charity concern in their own expenses.
"There are many sponsors who are approaching us to help us in this beautiful endeavour," he wrote to THT Online, "The force of positive developments is giving us more energy to boon and blossom."
