This is the story about Daniel, who has just overcome a long addiction. Once back home, Daniel is trying to reorganise his life based on a strategy which consists basically in doing exactly what a ‘normal’ person does.

Familia (Family) is about a man who celebrates his 55th birthday with his family. He receives presents and attention. But this family is not what it seems, although he himself has chosen it. Who hasn’t ever dreamed of having a perfect family?

Bride’s son

KATHMANDU: The monthly film screening by the Kathmandu Film Society (KFS) is scheduled for November 19 at the Nepal Tourism Board, Bhrikutimandap at 5:30 pm.

This month KFS will be screening Son of the Bride, an Argentinean film by Juan Jose Campanella (2004).

Rafael Bevedere is a 42-year-old divorced father and restaurant owner overwhelmed with life. He feels he doesn’t visit his mother, who is stricken with Alzheimer’s disease: he lives in his father’s shadow; doesn’t spend enough time with his daughter and can’t commit to his girlfriend.

Rafael’s workaholic tendencies take its toll with a heart attack. This heart attack may be the best thing to happen to him, since it prompts a re-evaluation of everything he finds important in life. He needs to reprioritise his life and figure out what is best for him in the long run. The humour in Son of the Bride is what makes it such an enjoyable movie.

The KFS is dedicated to bring out the best and the rare films from all corners of the world. It believes this is one of the best way to expose the locales about the class and types of films that are produced in different parts of the world and hopes to inspire Nepali filmmakers to break their traditional sphere of influence and make better films.
