Compatible colleagues make better work environment
I would like to have co-workers with good personality and beautiful smiles on their faces. S/he should be honest, punctual and very helpful.
— Abhinay Jayaswal
There is a saying that workplace should have a homely environment then only the outcome will be productive. Since we spend maximum time at our work place, if colleagues are difficult to get along with, then there will be an environment where we can’t prosper. The important characteristics that I want my co-workers to have are— firstly frankness — as it might be difficult to get along with people who cannot speak up. I want my co-workers who gracefully accept compliments and take in comments as well. In addition to this, one should be diplomatic, have conscience and be capable of giving constructive criticism rather than just criticising. Secondly, one should respect others values and always be kind to others. They should not be sarcastic on other’s performances, but sensitive towards others feelings. Finally, one should be helpful, sharing information one knows so that colleagues can perform their tasks in a better way. Sometimes people provide co-workers with wrong information and stand out as the good one in front of the boss. This kind of behaviour is really bad for teamwork and should be discouraged.
— Sharmila Shrestha, Dharan
People should be serious while working in office but at the same time if there is a friendly environment it is even better. We can feel at home even in the office if there is cooperation among the co-workers. Teamwork cannot be achieved in fear and unfriendly environment. Co-workers should be like our relatives with whom we can share our problems freely which we are facing at the workplace. The main characteristics I would like in my co-workers are genuineness, smartness, helpful attitude, simple and friendly behaviour that can create a homely environment.
— Suja Dulal
My co-workers have to be friendly and professional. S/he should not bring in her family matters in the workplace. And the most important thing is s/he should not be rude and be able to get along with others.
— Gayatri Basnet
At the workplace we need to have teamwork. An individual’s effort is not enough to make things happen. There are a lot of characteristics a co-worker should possess. S/he should value time and be punctual. Co-workers must be friendly because unless they can get along with their colleagues they cannot achieve success.
Determination is another important characteristic they should have, they
should have the zeal to be successful in what they are doing. And of course hard working nature always counts. If the workers have these characters in them then they can be sure that ‘Success is just a step away.’
— Eliza Pokharel,
Bhimsengola
Probably the most important thing that people look for in their co-workers is the ability to listen and show importance to everyone’s views and ideas. Moreover, traits like friendliness and generosity also help to get along with ease.
— Amit
In the workplace, I want my co-workers to be understanding and affable. If s/he has these qualities then everything will work out well for us and our efforts will pay off. It will be productive and result-oriented if we both share similar points of view towards our work. We will not be interfering in each other’s work. Moreover, it is obvious that problems will arise despite the dedication we put into our work. But an intelligent, calm and collective personally can lead our group to solving the problems instead of blaming one another for slight mistakes. At last, everyone should respect each other’s work, as it will create a healthy and lively ambience for every one to work with freedom.

The first and foremost thing that should be taken into consideration are the person’s individual traits. A person with a bad character may create an uneasy
environment. I would love to be with co-workers
who have a loving and
caring nature. Understanding others feelings and emotions are the factors that my co-workers need
to have. Sharing ideas, views and emotions will lead all of us to know each other better so that in coming days we might easily tackle and face the upcoming challenges. Being practical is an additional quality. S/he should be able to work easily even in difficult situations and come up with ideas to tackle the problems. S/he should not be associated with influential forces. These are the important qualities my co-workers should possess.

In our work place we meet people with different characteristics. It is difficult to find co-workers having the characteristics we like. It is better to develop certain characteristics like loyalty, friendliness and ability to adapt ourselves to any situation. I think expecting certain characteristics that we want in others is not a bad idea but this idea is sure to bring disappointment because we might not have co-workers with the desired characteristics.
— Monika Dahal,
Handigaon
If people in the workplace do not have common characteristics it will be difficult to create sound environment. So, to a have healthy work environment, co-workers should bear some indispensable characteristics which enhance work effectively and efficiently. Talking about co-workers, specifically they must have qualities such
as initiative, co-operation, respect, discipline and
be able to establish
sound relationship among co-workers. Similarly,
responsibility towards work is another important thing that must be taken seriously by all co-workers to create a healthy work environment.

In every field we will meet different types of co-workers. The main thing I feel everyone should keep in mind is that, there is a first time for everything. So every individual in the team should understand that no one is perfect and everybody makes mistakes. They should cope with them and learn from one another. And the next thing is that we should respect others in order to get respect. So respect others feelings and learn good things leaving behind the feelings of dominance. The main theme is sharing and caring.
— Seema Subedi
I think that finding the right work environment depends on finding the right colleagues. A healthy environment can be created only when people are unbiased and they don’t create problems between each other and seniors. A successful office runs when, from the lower level staff to the boss, everyone is pleased and satisfied. I feel that people in the office should understand each other. No caste or sexual differences should be made. Respect towards each other and also towards work adds zing to the workplace.

The poets, the scientist, the astrologist, the technician, the physician all see the world differently according to their work environment and their nature. It is said that beauty lies in the eyes of beholder, and the world seems greener if you look at it with green glasses. So in my opinion it depends on you to make the work environment friendly, competitive and interesting. Every business entrepreneur tends to recruit human resources in their organisation who are equally qualified, competitive, smart, talented, hard working, and so on. That’s why all co-workers around you are equally qualified as you are. So we should not waste our time finding the characteristics in our co-workers that we desire but should try to build ourselves as strong, competitive, friendly and adjustable accordingly so we can face any challenge in the organisation. It is not necessary that you find the co-workers of your age and nature, as the people differ in their nature so that is why it is important to build our confidence and moral so that we can adjust in any situation.
— Saraswati
Good co-workers are very important in order to have a healthy working environment. I think that co-workers should be sincere towards their work. They should not deviate from their duty nor should they misguide others. Having a laugh at others expense is also a discouraging factor. People should work together and not try to take credit for work they haven’t done. This gives rise to a bad environment at the workplace. Respect at the workplace should be earned by hard work and not forcefully received. And sincerity always leads to a path of success and fame.
— Himanshu Bhatia, Thamel
A famous proverb goes, ‘the six essential characteristics that are keys to
success are: sincerity, courtesy, personal integrity, charity and wisdom, obviously, a human must be adorned with these qualities to be successful. To have good and strong relationship, compatibility and cooperation play significant roles. Provided a fellow has good understanding and philosophy, s/he can be successful. For a teacher of a school, in my view, love is also a vital
part to maintain worthy
relationship in a down line. If our colleagues are friendly, charitable and courteous, we may not find our workplace querulous and dull. Diligence, co-operation, endurance, credibility, courtesy and love are expected in co-workers to be compatible with them. Moreover, understanding and accountability fortify the bond in excess.
— Sagun Shrestha, Anamnagar
I want my co-workers to be very friendly and co-operative. I don’t like co-workers who are mean and get jealous of everything that I do.
— Hasmat Ali
A workplace usually consists of people from different educational qualifications and cultural backgrounds. We should create an environment that all workers can do their works properly without having to worry about these systems. Having a good sense of humour, having good compatibility with different kinds of people, having mutual respect for one another and always being ready to help others in bad and good times are the traits that bridge any gap there might have been due to these systems. This ensures a good working relationship with other workers and working as a team will be fun rather than a burden. We should learn from the system in developed countries, where people have equal respect for each other regardless
of the work they do and
the rank they have in the organisation.
Each worker is directly or indirectly dependent on others, and cannot function properly if any of the elements in the system fails to carryout its duty. At the same time, the workers must be ready to help out if some members fail to turn up to the work for various reasons.
