Cruise hosts $6,250-per head fund-raiser dinner

LOS ANGELES:

Actor Tom Cruise hosted a $6,250-per ticket fund-raiser in Manhattan for a project to help police, fire fighters and paramedics who suffered health problems following the 9/11 terror attacks.

The ‘New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project’ is a Scientology-based “detoxification” programme and relies on heavy doses of vitamins and hours in a sauna, www.Hollywood.tv has learnt. More than 780 rescue workers have reportedly accepted treatment. However, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg denounced the programme, asserting that Scientology is “not science”.
