HOLLYWOOD: In a new interview, the actress described Jonas as her “best friend” and said the pair “still hang out all the time”.

Her comments come amid growing speculation that the former couple have reunited following Cyrus's split from model Justin Gaston earlier this month.

Cyrus made reference to her separation from Gaston in a series of messages on her Twitter page.

The Hannah Montana star was also pictured apparently jet-skiing with Jonas on the set of new movie in Savannah, Georgia last week.

Cyrus, who split from Jonas in December 2007, told The River: "We don't know what's going to happen in the future, but right now we're just kicking it and hanging out as much as we can.

"We both just kind of saw each other again and kind of decided this whole thing was stupid and... we all were over the separation.

“And our families are super happy that we're hanging out again."

Cyrus is in Savannah recording her new film, The Last Song.
