Diaz goes ‘Trippin’ with friends
NEW YORK: Cameron Diaz was attacked by cicadas in the Honduran rain forest and landed face first while sand boarding in the desert during filming of her new MTV series, “Trippin’” — but you won’t hear her complain. “Physical discomfort for me is all about building your constitution, so I invite it in,” the 32-year-old “Charlie’s Angels” star told reporters recently.
“Trippin’,” which premiered Monday night, follows Diaz and celebrity friends as they head to environmentally sensitive spots around the world and seek to discover ways to preserve them. Over the course of 10 episodes, they visit Patagonian glaciers, ride elephants in Nepal, sand board in Chile, compete in an archery competition in Bhutan and relax in Yellowstone National Park’s hot springs, among other activities. “We all share this planet and if we understand that, kids might start looking at it differently,” Diaz said. “They might start looking about how they consume — what they consume, how they consume it, where they consume it from.” Among the friends traveling with Diaz are rappers DMX and Redman, actresses Eva Mendez and Jessica Alba, and pro surfer Kelly Slater. — AP
