Dream theatre

Kathmandu:

A little over a week after the opening of the Garden of Dreams, Kaiser Mahal and the venue has become the talk of the town. From hosting international artistes to organising the classiest of events in the Capital, the city denizens are thronging the imperial garden either for the lure of it or the events that it hosts.

The Garden of Dreams continuing its succession of events orchestrated the legendary play Fire In the Monastery on October 17. It is a play based on the fire that engulfed Tyangboche monastery and its library.

And staging it in the Garden of Dreams was another dream and treat in itself.

Fire in the Monastery, when it was staged in India, Russia and Denmark not only had the international critics raving about it, but it also had them eulogising the brilliant performance of each of the characters. It was no less this time around at the Garden.

The play was presented by Gurukul and directed by Sunil Pokharel.

The Garden was thrown open to the public on October 8. Since then a number of cultural programmes have been organised here. The fortnight of celebrations will end with the lighting of lamps at the Garden on October 21.
