Renowned singer and composer Durga Kharel from Darjeeling, India, is set to feature in this month's Paleti 'r' Sala in Kathmandu.
In a statement today, Nepalaya, the organizer, said, "Palenti has been hosting the show for the past 21 years, taking place every last Friday and Saturday of the English month."
Singer Durga Kharel is a well-established figure in the Nepali music scene and is beloved among Nepali-speaking audiences worldwide. He is particularly known for the popular song 'Bolaun Bhane Timilai Bat Lagne Dar', rendered in his distinctive voice.' The statement further noted that Durga, along with his elder brother Badri Kharel, forms the celebrated musical duo Badri-Durga, long recognized in Nepali music circles.
Singer Durga will present melodies he has cherished since childhood, bringing to life tunes that have resonated with him over the years. Alongside him, Abhigya Ghimire, the vocal artist of Paleti, will revive timeless classics, creating a harmonious echo of past musical gems during the program.
Recalling his first performance at Palenti in 2008, singer Durga Kharel stated, "This time, I am presenting songs by Darjeeling-based composers that hold a personal place in my memory. This program ranks among the most significant endeavors of my life,' reads the statement.
This month's Palenti will be held on the last Friday and Saturday of March, the 27th and 28th, at Nepalaya's 'r' Sala in Kalikasthan. Tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.paleti.com.np
