Easter in our churches

KATHMANDU: For Christians the world over, Easter marks what Christ stands for — resurrection and life everlasting. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after being crucified on the cross at Calvary. According to the Bible, his followers found an empty grave with the gravestone rolled away when they went to tend to his dead body. And an angel appeared to them who said, “Why are you looking for Him amongst the dead?”

For Christians, Easter is important because it is the day that marks that Christ has conquered death.

Even in Nepal, Christians will be celebrating Easter. At the Assumption Church, Dhobighat, the Easter service (in Neplai) will begin at 9:00 am, while the Koinonia Church will hold their service at the St Xavier’s ground from 7:00 am, and the Easter service at Gyaneswor Church will be from 6:00 am.

Happy Easter to all.
