Eat like the nawabs at Kakori
KATHMANDU: As promised Soaltee Crowne Plaza is set to wow Kathmandu’s gourmets with a new taste in a new ambience in their neo-traditional Awa-dhi restaurant ‘Kakori’.
It is a place that provides authentic Awadh food, a treat for the palate of all foodies. Kakori, the name come from a city 14 km from Lucknow, well known for its nawabs and their royal taste for everything, especially food.
“After having Bukhara with us for so long, we wanted to give something equally good — even better for all those who go for Indian cuisine,” said Sharad Upadhaya, Food and Beverage manager.
The restaurant inaugurated on May 9 in a very grand way, which was attended by the crème de la crème of Kathmandu — from ambassadors to corporate honchos and socialites.
The poolside came alive in the evening harking back to the yesterdays of the mehfils of nawabs. The dinner as Awadhi cuisine promises was of kebabs, curries, pulaos, biryanis that were prepared by using authentic cooking styles. With Nawab Haider Kazmi, a descendant of the rulers of Kakor, as the consultant for the restaurant, guests can expect nothing but the best.
The Kakori is done up in gold, silver and black, and the golden door is really royal looking, to say the least. The neo-traditional look shows the fusion of tradition and contemporary décor.
The guests were entertained by singer Akriti Kakkar, who performed some of Bollywood’s evergreen songs.
Kakori is open for lunch and dinner on weekends, and for dinner on weekdays.
