Elvis in London

LONDON:

It was long believed that Elvis Presley never visited England and had only been to Scotland, but theatrical producer Bill Kenwright now reveals that the music icon did visit the country in 1958.

Kenwright revealed that the then 23-year-old singer went to meet his friend Tommy Steele, thesun.co.uk reports.

Kenwright said, “Elvis flew in for a day and Tommy showed him round London. He showed him the Houses of Parliament and spent the day with him.”

Entertainer Steele, who is now 71, was regarded in the 50s as the Britain’s answer to Elvis, said, “It was two young men sharing the same love of their music.” — HNS
