Encouraging kids to read
KATHMANDU:
A two day Book Fair was organised at Shuvatara School, Sanepa on November 23-24 with the intention of reviving the love for reading among children. New International Book Centre, Ratna Pustak Bhandar, Himalaya Book, Navneet Publication, Himal Books, United Book Store, Mananswe Magazine and The Readers Concern were some of the publishers that had put up stalls displaying a variety of books. Shuvatara has been organising this Book Fair for the last four years.
Children could be seen sitting in reading corners, which had been created for them to relax and enjoy the books. For the children interested, a ‘Writing Wall’ has been up where they could jot their opinions and thoughts about the books they had read.
They had also organised language development activities in Nepali and English. The children
also performed a pantomime on the second day after conducting a workshop for two days. — HNS
