Fans get Sting invitation

LOS ANGELES: Rock band The Police are to hold a rehearsal session in Los Angeles next week, front-man Sting announced on February, fuelling speculation the British supergroup are to re-unite for a world tour.

In a statement on his website, Sting offered 20 tickets for the session which will be held at the legendary “Whisky A Go Go” club in Hollywood.

The rehearsal comes the day after The Police are to perform at the Grammys in Los Angeles on February 11.

News that The Police were to reunite for the Grammys has led to speculation that they are planning a tour to mark the 30th anniversary of their founding. Sting, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland formed The Police in 1977 and went on to become one of the most successful groups of the next decade, with a string of hits including Roxanne and Every Breath You Take. The band split in 1984.
