Fawcett beats cancer
LOS ANGELES: Former Charlie’s Angels star Farrah Fawcett said on February 2 she had beaten cancer after winning a gruelling four-month battle against the illness.
The 59-year-old icon of the hit 1970s television series was declared cancer-free after undergoing tests at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, four months after having a tumour removed in October.
“This is an extraordinarily happy day for me and my family,” Fawcett said in a statement emailed to AFP by her publicist. “I have been on a journey for the past four months and during this time received a tremendously aggressive treatment which doctors initially warned me would be the most difficult fight of my life.”
The actress said despite “excruciating pain and uncertainty” she had never lost hope of a recovery. “It never occurred to me to stop fighting — not ever.”
