Ferrel auctions role for charity

LONDON:

Hollywood comic star Will Ferrell is auctioning a cameo in his new movie Step Brothers to raise funds for his college friend’s cancer charity. The auction is to help his University of Southern California fraternity brother Craig Pollard fundraise for his Cancer for College foundation. “What a perfect Christmas present for your son or daughter. It is the sure fire way to win the parent of the year award. Support this amazing cause, by buying them me (the role),” contactmusic.com quoted Ferrell as saying. Online bidding will begin on September 17 with an opening bid of $5,000 and continue until September 26. The winner will be announced the next day. The winner will meet Ferrell at the 14th annual Cancer for College golf tournament dinner at Temecula Creek Inn, California, on September 28 before filming starts in October. Pollard, who has survived Hodgkin’s disease twice, launched the charity to provide college scholarships to cancer patients and survivors, and has awarded $200,000 to 50 people since 1993.
