KATHMANDU, JANUARY 4
Composer Aavaas's creative performance was successfully staged at Paleti on Friday and Saturday evenings at the 'r' sala of Nepalaya.
In a press release, Nepalaya stated, "This edition of Paleti, titled 'Sangat ra Sahakarya' (Companionship and Collaboration), showcased a selection of fifteen musical compositions by various lyricists and composers."
Aavaas served as the narrator of the programme, providing context for each song as it was performed. The evening opened with "Bhuin Kuhiro Udna Thalyo", the first solo song he had ever performed on stage. Written and composed by lyricist and composer Chandra Bhandari, the song reflected a strong sense of ideological conviction.
Alongside each performance, Aavaas shared insights into the creative process behind the compositions. At times, lyricists joined him on stage; at others, composers did. Some narratives were light-hearted anecdotes, while others evolved into deeply emotional recollections. Presenting the programme with a gentle smile, Aavaas remained true to the theme of collaboration, consistently emphasizing creative companionship throughout the evening, the statement added.
The second and third performances featured songs from Aavaas's debut musical album, Palapala. Following his self-written song "Aansule Yo Man Bahakinchha", he performed "Jeevanbhar Tithyai Rahyo Malai Zindagile", penned by poet and lyricist Biplav Pratik. After presenting three of his earlier compositions, Aavaas introduced Abhigya Ghimire, a young vocal artist associated with Paleti, representing the emerging generation of performers.
Reflecting on his artistic journey, Aavaas noted that he initially wrote lyrics exclusively for himself. However, after collaborating with lyricists Biplav Pratik and Shravan Mukarung, he became increasingly drawn to composing music for the works of other lyricists as well, the statement said.
The programme featured instrumental accompaniment by Dineshraj Regmi on keyboard; Sundar Kumar Maharjan and Milesh Tandukar on rhythm section; Milan Ghimire on flute; Kripesh Lohani on bass guitar; and Prabin Pulami Magar on rhythm guitar.
Paleti, which is staged on the final Friday and Saturday of every English calendar month, will feature a poetic performance by poet and writer Bhushita Bashishta in its next edition, according to the statement.
