Fit for the game

Sharad Vesawkar, the 19 years old batsman of the National Cricket Team, feels one has to concentrate on the fitness of both body and mind to be healthy. He shares his secret to good lifestyle.

Kathmandu:

I start my day with half an hour of Pranayam, as yoga always helps me to be alert and active. Pranayam is easy and keeps my mind positive. I usually go for workouts three times in a week. My workout schedule includes one hour of cardio and lightweights. Being a cricketer I don’t do heavy weights but focus more on repetition. Then for half an hour I swim as it is a whole body exercise and relaxes my muscles after the workout. During the game season I reduce my workout to just two days a week.

I usually have normal food but my meals include more portions of vegetables and fruits. I drink lots of water and juice throughout the day to keep my body from being dehydrated. I am not a very big fan of fast foods and prefer home cooked food. Being a non-veg I enjoy eating fish and chicken but have restricted mutton to once a week. I don’t like having sweets much but I love eating tuna salad and chicken soup is my favourite and they are healthy too.
