Get ready for Folk Film Fest
KATHMANDU: The Music Museum of Nepal (NFMIM) is all set to host the 5th International Folk Music Film Festival that will showcase folk instruments, song, music, dance, lifestyle, culture and traditions of different countries through films.
As per a press release issued by NFMIM, the festival will be held from November 26 to 29 at Rastriya Naach Ghar, Jamal. And it will screen 33 selected documentaries from 135 documentaries that had participated. In different categories — invitations, non-competition and competition — films from 18 countries will be showcased.
The aim of this festival is to engage youngsters in folk music and culture.
The release adds that six best films will be selected and awarded in the fest. The panel of judges includes multifaceted musician and film-maker Gerard Kilbride from Wales, Nepali film-maker KP Pathak and film-makers Jake Penchansky and Tara Linhardt from the USA. The four-day festival will not only screen films but Traditional World Music Research Symposium will also take place where working papers like of British ethnomusicologist Rolf Killius — Where the sun kisses the sand and Prof Dr Jaya Raj Pant’s — Gori Dhanako Chaitelo among others will
be presented.
Documentaries will be screened from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (three shows) every day.
