Getting closer to Sush

Bangalore:

She has ruled the universe and she is known for the strong female characters that she has portrayed in many of the Bollywood films be it Samay or Filhaal or Chingaari.

She is none other than the first Miss Universe to come out of India — Sushmita Sen. And this lady is planning on making a film on a strong female character from the pages of history — Rani Laxmi Bai, apart from her plans of setting up a world-class spa centre near Mumbai.

We caught up with her in this garden city (courtesy Tag Heuer) and Sush said she was grateful to the hospitality shown her by the Nepali people during her visits to our land (she has visited Nepal twice).

Labelling herself as a “non-practising” Buddhist, Sushmita said, “I visited the Buddhist stupas in Kathmandu,” and also confessed that she had a swell time in the casinos.

However, she said, “The religious and spiritual role that Nepal has is the most important, and it is original.”

Why a non-practising Buddhist? “Buddhism is a way to lead life. I make attempts to learn everything, however, I do not practice them in my day-to-day life,” said this tall actress, who loves collecting diamond jewellery, as explanation.

Would she visit Nepal again? “If you invite me, I will. Will you invite me to visit Kathmandu,” asked this lady in reply.

Sushmita also expressed that she would love to do a Nepali film provided the script is “good”. “If I get a good script, I will act in a Nepali film.”
