Getting your tourism grades
KATHMANDU:
Nepal is supposed to be a tourist’s haven, and to make this a reality the Himalaya Academy of Travel and Tourism (HATT) has been established in cooperation with Career Makers, a tourism education consultancy firm based in New Delhi, India. The academy recently successfully conducted the training for its first batch of students.
In a bid to produce quality tourism manpower in Nepal and also help aspiring Nepali youth to pursue their career in tourism, HATT is planning to come up with it’s own pool of qualified trainers and applicable infrastructure to run various trainings related to tourism industry including airlines ticketing, travel and tour operations, cargo handling, trekking and rafting management, climbing and adventure, among other things.
Though tourism is considered a potential sector of economic development in Nepal, the sector has been facing a scarcity of qualified human resources which is obviously causing a gap. HATT plans to bridge this gap by providing specialised and professional training as well as to encourage new generation in this field.
