Grandmaster Anand plans film move
CHENNAI: Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand will soon feature in a guest role in actor-director Revathi’s film. Anand, who became an anti-AIDS campaigner a year ago, is Avahan ambassador for the AIDS/HIV awareness programme in India, which is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
In the last one year he has carried out several campaigns in his hometown, Chennai, where he has been actively participating in spreading awareness about the disease.
Revathi is known for her critically acclaimed film on HIV/AIDS, Phir Milenge. The proposed film with Anand will revolve round the theme of chess — an idea suggested by Simi Garewal, Revathi told reporters here. “I won’t mind if she casts a glamour girl opposite me,” quipped Anand.
The film is still in the planning stage, but the grandmaster is eagerly waiting to appear on the big screen after conquering the world of chess.
