Great action, weak plot

Kathmandu

Car chase, shoot-out, blood sheds and bone-breaking scenes are common in most Bollywood action movies. You expect all these elements in a film starring action star Sunny Deol film — and Ghayal Once Again doesn’t disappoint you.

Deol, whose films are considered the benchmark in action, is back in action avatar — as an actor and director in this film. And with Hollywood action co-ordinator Dan Bradley, Deol brings forth the authentic and natural action.

Characters’ movements during the time of emergency — man running in the busy traffic being chased by gunman, jumping down from building and falling on a net, car chase among others are worth mentioning for their authenticity. Even minute details like small wounds, scratches, et cetera have been kept intact and natural.

The sequel of 1990’s Ghyal, this film showcases black and white scenes of earlier film. Presented in flashback technique, these scenes help connect the two films. But what disappoints you is the film’s story itself — the plot development is forced in the second-half of the movie.

Ghayal Once Again is the story of a man named Ajay (Deol) who starts a media house on his own. But as the story moves on, there is no information on how Ajay managed to establish a successful media house. To bring out the truth, Ajay doesn’t hesitate to kidnap the culprits in the film. He forces them to confess their crimes. But how realistic is it?

More such unrealistic events happen in the film and you start losing your interest in the film.

Deol, as an actor has shown both sensitive and powerful side of a man, whose ultimate aim is to give justice to society.

Abhilash Kumar playing spoilt Kabir Bansal shines in his performance. He justifies his part of a mean, insensitive, and hot-tempered, son of rich father Raj Bansal (Narendra Jha).

Soha Ali Khan as a doctor Riya does not share much screen space, except in few scenes where she is seen supporting and guiding emotionally weak Ajay.

Nevertheless, the background score of the movie and only one song Lapak Jhapak are in tune with the movie.

Despite a gripping action, the film fails to impress with its unrealistic story.
