Watch out for Urmila

MUMBAI: Urmila Matondkar with her gorgeous looks, sexy attire and loads of talent has always been worth watching. Last year she amazed the audience with movies like Bhoot and Pinjar. Now she

is set to wow the public once again with

Ek Hasina Thi, a realistic modern-day thriller. The movie is directed by Sriram Raghvan and is produced by Ram Gopal Varma.

The film portrays Urmi as a naïve Pune girl who comes to Mumbai, due to a quirk of fate she lands herself in jail and the days to follow changes her into a tough girl who sees it all too early. Playing opposite Urmila is Saif Ali Khan, who too, has adapted an entirely new look for himself. The duo might establish some fresh league being seen together for the very first time.

Bachchan versus Bachchan

MUMBAI: The box office is about to see a clash like never before. Two huge Amitabh Bachchan-starrers — Aetbaar and Khakee — are being released on the same day. “It can’t be helped,” Amitabh Bachchan, who has just returned from a holiday with his entire family in Dubai to resume shooting for Gaurang Doshi’s Deewaar, told.

On hearing of the double-decker fare on January 23, he tried to reason with the respective producers. “But both the makers of Khakee and Aetbaar are adamant. I think they have financial constraints and have to do what’s best for their films. One can’t argue with that.”

There are interesting parallels and contrasts between the two Bachchan flicks. In both, Bachchan performs under directors who’ve worked with him for the first time. While Aetbaar features the mega-star as a disapproving father who can’t bear to see his daughter Bipasha Basu being swept off her feet by a closet scumbag John Abraham, Khakee fits him into the far more heroic mould of a cop transporting a hardened criminal (Ajay Devgan) to his nemesis. New kid on the block

MUMBAI: Inspired by the likes of Dino Morea and John Abraham, another model is all set to try his luck in films. And that’s Upen Patel! Upen is currently busy taking classes in acting and diction. He has received several offers “…but they haven’t been inspiring enough. I want to make debut in action films similar to those made by Sanjay Gupta,” he says. Born and brought up in the UK, Upen had always desired to make it big in the world of glamour. He has already done a Sun Sahiba Sun music video. “It was Sanjay Dutt who recommended me,” he says.

Shamita’s smooch waves

MUMBAI: She created quite a sensation when she kissed Uday Chopra in Mohabbatein. But kiss did not take Shamita Shetty’s career places. Looks like she is making one more attempt. This time she has kissed Manoj Bajpai for Dharmesh Darshan’s Bewaffa-The

Unfaithful starring Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen and Kareena Kapoor. By the way, Shamita’s is only a guest appearance!

Preity new style

MUMBAI: It is not just Hrithik Roshan to have gone for completely different hairdo that he even refused to show others for Farhan Akhtar’s Laqshaya, it is also Preity Zinta who has opted for different haircut in the film. Laqshaya is a war-based film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. This is another film that could prove to be a bonanza for Preity’s career this year. Last year it was Koi Mil Gaya and Kal Ho Na Ho that did the magic.
