Raveena Tandon’s ‘royal’ wedding cancelled?
Raveena Tandon is scouting for a good location for her wedding these days. Sources say Raveena, who is marrying producer Anil Thadani, had planned a “royal” wedding at a palace in Rajasthan. Mostly expatriates and foreigners take these places on rent for a huge sum. But apparently her wedding will not be taking place there, as the owners were not happy with the deal.
As the media is abuzz with the event, even her designer Manav Gangwani has become a big name in the fashion industry. “Raveena discovered me while I was still in college,” says Gangwani. Ask him about the wedding date and he replies, “We still have not decided the date.” But sources say it may be February 14, Valentine’s Day.
Raveena Tandon was seen recently at the 4th National JK Tyre National Karting Championship in Mumbai. She inaugurated the ceremonies and flagged off the races. She was seen going to the karts with Narain Karthikeyan, Karun Chandhok and Armaan Ebrahim.
“I love cars. While racing is very exciting, I had never got a chance before. I’m happy that I got to race with India’s ace racer Narain,” Raveena said. IANS
Anu Malik’s balancing act
While he’s done some heavy songs in the war movie LOC, he has done an equally good job in Munnabhai M.B.B.S., a fun-filled comedy.
“When such things happen it gives me an opportunity to prove my versatility. Today when a layman listens to the two soundtracks he cannot believe I am the creator of both. That is my success,” Malik told IANS.
“Munnabhai M.B.B.S. required the fun element in the songs whereas LOC needed to be heavy. My work has literally slapped my critics who always tried to spoil my name in the industry,” says Malik. IANS

IIFA to be held in Singapore
Looks like the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) are heading for Singapore this year. Though not announced officially by Wizcraft, the organisers of the event, sources indicate as much. Wizcraft has been hunting for a country to host their awards ceremony for a very long time. They even tried places like Los Angeles and California but failed, as getting visas would have caused major problems.
Next on the cards was Dubai, but then the next Zee Cine Awards will take place there on February 26. This is also the first time the Zee Cine Awards will take place outside India.
But Wizcraft is not complaining. It seems they have got a very good deal from the Singapore Tourism Board. IIFA may take place now in Singapore in May 2004.
Sabas Joseph of Wizraft said: “We have not yet decided the final venue. By January 15, we should be able to announce the venue and the country. We have currently three countries on our list — Singapore and Dubai are among them.”
Shilpa happy to be Revathi’s Mitr
Sounds like a dream team. The lissome Shilpa Shetty is finally working with a woman director. “Can you imagine, after all these years in the industry, finally it’s happening?” she asks. And the female director is the lovely Tamil-Malayalam actress Revathi whose Mitr in English got Shobana a National Award.
Shilpa shot in Chennai for a week with Revathi and she’s over the moon. “The way she narrates scenes and I connect with them is unprecedented. I’ve never felt so fulfilled before as an actress.” Shilpa plays a girl who works in an advertising agency and undergoes a life-changing experience. Salman Khan who worked with Revathi many years ago in Love immediately said yes to her. He plays Shilpa’s boyfriend.
They have two other releases together, Adhiyaman’s Dil Churaya Aapne and Puneet Issar’s Satyamev Jayate coming up.
