Hundreds enjoy Durbarmarg fest
Kathmandu:
All those heading towards Durbarmarg in the sunny afternoon of May 12 had one thing waiting for them there — an afternoon loaded with fun.
Boasting an array of ready-to-rock musical artistes and a chain of foodstalls offering mouthwatering dishes, the fourth Durbarmarg Street festival was destined to be a blast.
Although many music aficionados seemed a bit upset regarding the placement of the stage, the programme did not disappoint their desire to be entertained. Pretty ladies flaunting miniskirts and cool shades, and cooler dudes added were eye candies at the festival. The crowd turnout was massive — the street was teeming with people. And the performers too did their bit on stage.
Rock and rap seemed to be the crowd favourite. The upcoming band Pralaya warmed up the crowd with hit English rock numbers like Iron Maiden’s Can I play with Madness and Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water. The popular band Mt 8884 packed a good punch with their popular numbers like Raat Gujarna and Budheskalko Lathi. Nalina Chitrakar exhibited her prowess in her ability to pull the crowd in her favour although there was some bottle-bombardment. With her performance, the first half of the concert came to an end.
The best was, however, stored for the last. The jumping and screaming audience seemed to be having the time of their life. The number had significantly increased by the time the sun set over the western skies. The Unity, Sugam Pokharel, Cobweb and 1974 AD’s performances just thrilled the crowd.
The event was organised by Durbarmarg Development Authority in association with Surya Nepal’s brand Shikhar Filter, and Springwood.
