IIT’s virtual world beckons

KATHMANDU:

Do you have any exciting business plans in your head, or amazing software to attract big companies? Can you design an alluring ad campaign, or solve some of big companies’ bottlenecks? If you have, then get ready to lock horns with other student geniuses in a series of interesting techno-management games as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Karagpur is beckoning students this February to compete in its annual techno-management fest — Kshitij 2007.

Held with the aim of providing a forum for students to pitch their talents against each other, “Kshitij is the biggest techno-management festival of its kind in Asia in terms of prize money, participation figures, and guests,” states a press release issued by the college.

With some of the crème de la crème Indian companies as its sponsors, the total prize money is a whopping IRs 30 lakhs (NRs 48 lakhs).

Enriching guest lectures by world-renowned personalities in science, technology, and management is also in the offing. Two former noble laureates for chemistry — Dr Paul Crutzen and Sir Harold Kroto along with a professor of cybernetics Prof Kevin Warwick will share their experience. And yes, try making ornithopters — the wing flapping aircraft- following lessons from Nathan Christopher.

All you need to do to participate in this event is to register yourself at www.ktj.in. Nepali students need not follow the deadlines mentioned there. They can prepare their programme and launch a query at the “forum” regarding the deadlines for registration.

Participants will be provided free lodging in the college premises and one-way travel fare will be partially reimbursed. They will be required to produce their valid college identity card at the fest.
