NEW YORK: Sarah Michelle Gellar, the 32-year-old actress and husband Freddie Prinze Jr welcomed daughter Charlotte Grace Prinze into the world on September 19.

Sarah’s representative confirmed, “Sarah and Freddie were delighted to become parents to Charlotte. The family is over the moon.”

Sarah — who recently changed her surname to Prinze — announced she was expecting

the couple’s first child in April. Sarah and

Freddie met while filming 1997 movie I Know What You Did Last Summer but didn’t start dating until 2000.

They got engaged in April 2001 and tied the knot on September 1, 2002 in Mexico. Last year, Sarah admitted she was looking forward to becoming a mother and was certain Freddie would be an excellent father.

She said, “When we do have children, my husband and I will have such a strong foundation because we’ve given our relationship time to grow.”
