It’s Hrithik all the way

Kathmandu:

If you’re a Hrithik fan, this movie’s a real treat. But even if you’re not, you’ll come out raving about Roshan junior. For Dhoom 2 is Hrithik, all the way.

All other star cast Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Aishwarya and Bipasha, just fade in front of the skillfully carved and well-toned thief who pulls off one heist after another. In one scene where he stands atop a speeding train with his hair flying in the wind and the well chisled body in full control of the speed, Hrithik could well be giving the Greek Gods a run for their money.

Dhoom 2 is as stylish and as superbly shot as any Hollywood thriller.

Lago Raho Munna Bhai and Dhoom 2 only prove the premise that sequels are weaker than the original may be after all just a myth. Dhoom 2 overtakes its predecessor many tim-es over in terms of action, style and photography, if not in acting.

Everything about the flick appears larger than the previous one. This time ACP Jai Dixit (Abhishek) is chasing a chor with dashing good looks, who has loftier plans and a much classier den bristling with cutting-edge gadgetry. He not just has a penchant for only the priceless antiques, but is a whiz kid at disguise.

While Esha Deol has been dispensed with, the screen space has been taken over by Bipasha and Aishwarya, who set the screen on fire with their specially acquired toned bodies. Bips looks ravishing in her first appearance in a bikini and Ash, with her smouldering eyes, bro-nzed body and barely there skirts, sure looks molten hot. But it’s Abhishek who’s a total wash out and fails to impress. Hrithik and Ash clearly display a better on-screen chemistry than the so-called real life couple.

The action and stunts by Allan Amin are jaw-dropping. For besides bikes, there are helicopters, fights on train, water skiing and cliff hanging. It’s a complete masala film as nothing seems impossible here.

Nonetheless, it tends to drag a little in the last part. Besides, the film’s high on the implausibility front. Like sub-inspector (Uday Chopra) taking liberties with ACP Shonali Bose, who is silly enough to handcuff herself, or the tough cop sharing a drink with the thief at a bar without bothering to arrest him for his previous robberies.

But the over all package of Dhoom 2 is nothing short of a total paisa vasool.
