IWC raffle draw held
KATHMANDU: The Indian Women’s Club (IWC) raffle draw was held at The Everest Hotel on November 26. It was a funfilled event attended by the ladies with an open heart to help the needy.
The women present had quite an eventful time congratulating the winners while hoping that the next number that would be called would be theirs. Fifty-seven persons walked away with prizes.
The raffle, which has been organised for the last three years, was a huge success this year too as the IWC was able to collect a total amount of Rs 6 lakh from the sale of raffle and sponsors. The IWC has been raising funds to help the underprivileged especially women and children and for the cure of cancer. The amount will be given to organisations like the Himalayan Child Foundation, Umbrella Foundation, among others.
Speaking at the function, Kamana Sood, IWC chairperson, said that this is a platform for women to do social and cultural work and contribute to these causes. It is also a initiative to bring the people of India and Nepal together.
Besides the draw the event was made quite interesting as melodious tunes were belted out by Pritam along with Anil Shahi, Shyam Nepali and Gautam. Fusion music to hits like Piya Basanti and Teri Deewani kept the crowd entertained.
