LOS ANGELES: Jamie Lee Curtis and jewellery designer Cathy Waterman met at their daughters’ dance class a decade ago and realised they lived a block away from each other. They’ve been best friends ever since.

“I never imagined being friends with an actress,” Waterman, 54, tells InStyle magazine for an article about famous women who are best pals. “If someone told me years ago that Jamie Lee Curtis would be one of my dearest friends, I would never have believed them.”

“Cathy knew me on both sides of my alcoholism,” Curtis, the 45-year-old ‘Freaky Friday’ star, says in the magazine’s April issue. “She’s one of the first people I told, and she was one of the first people I asked for help, friendship and support.” Other best friends featured in the article include singer Sheryl Crow and actress Kelly Lynch, and models Amber Valletta and Shalom Harlow. — AP
