Jazzmandu Banks on Louis

Louis Banks, the headliner for Jazzmandu this year, is India’s premier jazz pianist as well as a prolific composer of music sound tracks for theatre, television, stage and feature films. Originally, a Nepali, Banks’ real name is Pirthi Bahadur Budathoki. He continues to be the most sought after music composer for jingles, corporate anthems, audiovisuals and documentaries. He is considered to be the most creative composer of advertising jingles having recorded an incredible 7,000 jingles in a span of 10 years.

He has performed alongside jazz greats such as Yolande Bavan, Charlie Mariano, Charlie Byrd among others and toured all over India with the legendary Dizzy Gillespie. He has also performed in Russia, Europe, Australia, China, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Louis Banks is also acclaimed as the “Godfather of Jazz in India”.
