LOS ANGELES: Actor Brad Pitt has finally broken his silence on whether he started an affair with Angelina Jolie while he was still married to his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.

The 45-year old actor has blasted claims that “no dastardly affair” begun when he met Jolie in 2004 on the sets of Mr and Mrs Smith. Pitt, who was then married to actress Jennifer Aniston, has remained consistently tight-lipped about how he and Jolie fell in love.

Recently 39-year-old Aniston termed Jolie as “uncool” when Jolie sparked the row by saying that she “fell in love” while shooting for Mr and Mrs Smith. But in a recent interview to W magazine Pitt, tries to clarify and settle the matter.

Pitt insists there was no affair and says Aniston is a “sweetheart” and they are still close and big part of each other’s lives.

On Jolie’s earlier comment, Pitt explained, “What people don’t understand is that we filmed (Mr and Mrs Smith) for a year. We were still filming after Jen and I split up.

Even then it doesn’t mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn’t.(The film) will mean something to our children. It will, that’s all.”
