KAF ends on competitive note
Kathmandu:
KUSOM celebrated the last day of its annual event KAF with different competitions on November 30. It was an entertaining programme with students from different management colleges - South Asian Institute of Management (SAIM), Kathmandu College of Management (KCM), Little Angels’ College of Management (LAIM), Nepal College of Management (NCM), Himalayan Whitehouse International College, Ace Institute of Management (ACE) and KUSOM competing with each other in various competitions like dance, play and ad. Along with it popular bands also added to the appeal of the event. The chief guest of the event was Sujit Mundal, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Nepal.
Displaying their creative talents and management strategies, the ad competition saw some innovative ideas. While some ads were interesting, some didn’t have anything new to offer. The team from ACE Institute of Management were declared the winners.
The dance competition saw quite a variety from girls dancing to hit Bollywood numbers to groups performing traditional Nepali dances. With their charming and well choreographed dance sequence to a Maruni dance in the song Akasai ko kaalo baadal the winners were the KCM team.
The most interesting part of the event was definitely the short plays that were staged. LACM’s production highlighted the shortcomings of the education system in Nepal and that it is the hard working students who have to bear the brunt. KUSOM’s play had the audience laughing as they took satirical digs at the politicians of Nepal. KCM’s play was quite bold and upfront delving into the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace, and won the laurels for this category.
Besides the competitions, the bands Mt 8848 and Kutumba also performed for the crowd.
An award ceremony for outstanding students of KUSOM was also held. The recipients of the awards were best boy/girl EMBA 2006 batch — Sandeepa Thapa Baniya and Raju Nepal; MBA 2006 Fall batch — Dhiraj Karki and Parikshya KC; MBA 2007 Spring batch — Sworup Shrestha and Tara Bhandari (morning group) and Dipesh Shakya and Binita Baidya (afternoon).
