Kagbeni at Shanghai Film Festival

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s very own Kagbeni has been selected for the 11th Shanghai International Film Festival scheduled from June 14-22. This was stated in a press statement issued by Quest Entertainment.

Kagabeni, a murder mystery loosely based on The Monkey’s Paw, produced by Quest Entertainment and directed by Bhusan Dahal.

Kagbeni has been selected to compete in the Asian New Talent Section, which is dedicated to promoting new talent coming out of Asia and production houses to take Asian cinema to another level. Kagbeni will be competing with nine other films from China, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan.

Director Dahal and associate producer of Quest Entertainment Reshu Aryal Dhungana will be representing Kagbeni at the festival.

This is the first competitive film festival that Kagbeni will be participating in. Since its release in mid-January 2008, it has been screened commercially in multiple venues in Nepal and the US. It has been screened at film festivals in Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Madrid.

Kagbeni is the first Nepali film to be shot in 2K digital technology and also the first to be released in multiple venues around the country in high definition digital projection system.
