LONDON: The late Heath Ledger’s father is “proud” of his performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight and says the film is everything the family hoped it would be “and more”.

Ledger’s family flew to New York to attend the screening of the sequel to Batman Begins. Contactmusic.com quoted Ledger’s father as saying, “The Dark Knight is everything we hoped it would be and more. Heath loved the experience of creating this character and working on the film. We are so proud of our boy.”

The Dark Knight is scheduled to hit theatres in US this week. Le-dger was found dead from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs at his New York apartment on January 22. He was 28.
