Let the words flow
act of getting words on a page will help you build confidence
You have to present that very important writing assignment but no matter how much you try, you just don’t seem to get the right ideas or words to start it. At such times don’t panic, just relax and try these simple steps to let the ideas start flowing.
Relax your mind
The more you worry about not having ideas, the more you’ll freeze up your mind. You need to relax and think positively about your writing assignment. Realise that everyone goes through this phase, and the cure is to relax your mind.
Take a shower
It helps to refresh both your mind and body. Take a hot or cold shower according to your wish as it helps you to relax and focus on your assignments as well. The shower is also a good place where you can brainstorm easily. Just so that you don’t forget all the great ideas that you came up with, after you shower you can go to your room and jot down the points.
Write freely
Whenever you are at a loss for words, do not give up, but it is best to just start writing. It doesn’t matter what you write, just write something. The very act of getting words on a page will help you build confidence, and help your mind to start pumping out your thoughts.
Write what you would say to your friend
Sometimes it helps pretending that you are explaining the subject to a friend. By imagining a conversation with a friend, it helps to write what you would say — and this is a great way to trick yourself into writing.
Don’t worry about punctuation or
organisation
When you’re struggling with not having the right words or ideas do not think focus on punctuation or how organised your work is turning out to be. You want to eliminate everything that stands between you and getting words on a page. So just write and don’t worry about anything else.
Take deep breaths
There are many benefits to breathing deeply in meditation, and one of them is to help you refresh your mind.
Move around
Get your body moving and possibly even try writing in a new location. Just by moving around will get your blood pumping faster and will help you feel more energised.
Concentrate on a different section of your paper
If you’re stuck writing your introduction, just skip it. Start writing another section. Don’t worry if you don’t have the best paragraph structure — just write and the words will start to flow. You can always edit later.
Listen to music
Sometimes listening to classical music or jazz can help you start writing. It may not work for everyone, but is does help some people concentrate as it blocks out any surrounding noises and lets one focus on the writing.
Don’t worry about failing
Look, a lot of people
get stuck because they are afraid of failure — or they think they can’t write a good paper. You have to get rid of that negativity and start writing. The more you write, the better your paper will be. You can always edit it later — and find a friend to proofread it to give you some suggestions. — Agencies
