Kathmandu:

On the occasion of 35th Independence Day of Bangladesh, an exhibition of paintings by artists from various countries was inaugurated at the Park Gallery on December 20.

Remembering martyrs who fought to liberate Bangladesh from the shackles of foreign rule, the paintings showcases a common theme of peace.

Works of painters from 20 countries have put up, apart from the works of seven artists from Bangladesh.

The exhibition traverse different styles and genres of painting including etching, abstract, semi-abstract, pointillism, and symbolic.

“These paintings are full of feelings,” said Ramesh Khanal, an artist and art critic. Since exhibition has encompassed paintings of artists from so many different countries, Nepalis may find some very strange, but this gives one a unique exposure.

“This exhibition is a wonderful occasion for all artists, art lovers, and art students to learn various diverse styles and types of paintings from so many countries,” said curator of the Park Gallery, Neera Joshi Pradhan.

Rafique Sulayman, the man behind the exhibition, said this exhibition is intended to remember the souls of those who fought and died in liberating Bangaladesh.

Various veteran artists from Nepal had graced the occasion along with the chief guest, Dr Kheya Bhattacharya, DCM of the Indian Embassy.
